CELEBRATING CULTURAL HERITAGE! Meet Ali Saleh al-Taha, an archaeologist from Palmyra, Syria. Ali relocated to Aleppo after the Islamic State took over Palmyra and destroyed the city's ancient Roman ruins. Working from a rented workshop, Ali used his memory and publicly available photographs to meticulously recreate the historical artifacts using plaster. The models he built are scaled replicas of the original buildings in Palmyra established more than 4,000 years ago. Ali's hope is that the children of Palmyra will remember the ruins and the rich history of the city.![]()
