In late May, Cultures of Resistance director Iara Lee boarded the Gaza Freedom Flotilla’s vessel the Mavi Marmara in an act of civil disobedience to break the siege of Gaza. In the pre-dawn hours of Monday, May 31, the vessel was boarded by Israeli naval commandos, nine passengers were killed, and dozens more were injured. This is the unedited footage from the moments leading up to and during the assault.
