Cultures of Resistance Awardee — Syria
Wasim Satot is a karate teacher who opened a karate school for children in the Syrian village of Aljiina near Aleppo. The school teaches girls and boys with and without disabilities together and aims to create a sense of community that can help children overcome their wartime experiences.  Students are between 6 and 15 years old.
Wasim Satot received a Cultures of Resistance Award (CoR Award) in 2022 and will be using the award to support these classes.
