? Unite for Bissau (Nô Kumpu Guiné) Approaching 100 Countries—Help Us Cross the Finish Line!
We’re thrilled to share that our latest documentary, Unite for Bissau (Nô Kumpu Guiné): agroecology and feminism in Guinea Bissau, is on the verge of a major milestone—showing in 100 countries worldwide!
From the screening rooms of prestigious film festivals in the United States and Turkey, to grassroots community centers in Uganda and Palestine, to theaters hosting post-film discussions in Taiwan and Indonesia, the documentary has been on an amazing journey! Among other honors, we’ve been humbled to see the film named Best Documentary at the Women in Focus Film Fest in California and at the Concepción Independent Film Awards in Concepción, Chile!
Unite for Bissau (Nô Kumpu Guiné) celebrates the enduring legacy of Amílcar Cabral, the visionary leader behind the liberation movements of Guinea-Bissau and Cape Verde. The film highlights the courageous women of Guinea-Bissau who are carrying forward his mission by challenging patriarchy, promoting agroecology for self-sufficiency, and rejecting female genital mutilation and forced marriage. You can learn more about the film here.
This film’s wonderful reception around the world has been possible thanks to grassroots distribution and the participation of engaged audiences who have connected the film’s themes to struggles for justice, self-determination, and gender equality in their own communities.
Unite for Bissau has currently screened in more than 90 countries. Now, we need your help to reach 100! Whether it’s a film festival, community gathering, or classroom discussion, we want to continue sharing this story in new spaces.
If you’re interested in organizing a screening in your community or showing the film at a festival or event, please reach out to us at info@culturesofresistancefilms.com
