Cultures of Resistance Awardee — Iraq
The Ahwar marshlands of Iraq, which are a refuge of biodiversity and a cultural heritage dating back to Mesopotamia, are once again threatened by drought, wasteful water practices in Iraq, and the building of new dams in Turkey and Iran. The Ahwari Human Rights Network campaigns to defend and support the Marsh Arabs rights and take an action against discrimination.
The Ahwari Human Rights Network received aCultures of Resistance Award (CoR Award) in 2022.
