Seif Kousmate is a self-taught photographer who was born in Morocco and works in Mauritania. He specializes in social issues and has developed a visual vocabulary that stands between documentary photography and the poetry of fine art photography.
Kousmate received a Cultures of Resistance Award (CoR Award) and is using the award to support his photo essay titled “Haratin: Born to Serve,” which features portraits of former slaves in Mauritania.
