Mya Pagán
Cultures of Resistance Awardee — Puerto Rico
Mya Pagán is a Puerto Rican self-taught illustrator. Aside from her passion for languages she has always loved drawing and translating things into paper. Her experience as a woman in today’s society is what inspires her work focusing on socio-political subjects and everyday life for women. She published her first book, “Ellas, historias de mujeres puertorriqueñas”, in 2020, which was also illustrated by her.
She currently works as a full-time freelance illustrator and has worked with clients such as Energy BBDO, The Martin Agency, Sony Music Latin, La Moderna Editora, Ediciones SM, El Nuevo Día, Museo de Arte Contemporáneo de Puerto Rico (MAC) among others. Pagán received a Cultures of Resistance Award (CoR Award) in 2022 and will be using the award for application and tuition fees for workshops outside of Puerto Rico.
