Cultures of Resistance Awardee — Afghanistan
KINOKABUL is an Afghanistan-based company founded by Aboozar Amini and Sarah Hilmandi in 2016. Their focus is to produce films by the new generation of Afghan filmmakers and to bridge and connect them.
KINOKABUL has co-produced its first feature-length documentary with the Netherlands/Europe, Japan, and South Korea “Kabul, City in the Wind” which was the opening film of IDFA 2018.
KINOKABUL received a Cultures of Resistance Award (CoR Award) in 2022 and is using the award to buy cameras for their Kabul Film School, which is teaching female students film production.
