Established in 2018, Fundación Ixcanul seeks to foster social change and promote critical thinking through art. The organization supports the professional development of new filmmakers and generates demand for artistic productions of high quality in Guatemala. Fundación Ixcanul approaches cinema not only for entertainment purposes but as a tool for social reflection. 
Fundación Ixcanul received a Cultures of Resistance Award (CoR Award) in 2023.
