Since Covid-19 began spreading across the world in early 2020, all of us have seen our normal patterns of life upended. The pandemic forced whole countries into lockdown and left millions dead. Now, as we begin a third year of pandemic, the future remains uncertain. New variants and fresh surges in cases continue to cause major disruptions, even as vaccines slowly begin to reach more people, offering a measure of hope.
In the first months of the pandemic, our team at Cultures of Resistance Films announced that, in solidarity with all those confined in their homes, we would make our catalog of films available to stream online for free. Following our philosophy of seeking to turn negatives into positives, we tried to see the pandemic as an opportunity to build stronger ties with viewers, allies, and collaborators. While we’d planned a series of in-person events and film festival appearances to launch our new full-length documentary, , we quickly changed gears to turn our screenings and into . We were thrilled that far more people were able to watch the film online than would have been able to see it at an in-person premiere! (The documentary remains available for on-demand rental through iTunes, Amazon, Vimeo, and Google Play .)
As a continued gesture of solidarity, we’re keeping as many of our films as possible online and streaming for no cost. We believe that cinema offers a chance for all of us to reach out across borders and affirm our connections, even in a time when we are only slowly regaining our collective ability to gather and interact in person. Below you can find a list of our films and links for viewing them on our Cultures of Resistance or channels.
We hope you will enjoy the films, and that we can together emerge from the pandemic with a stronger commitment to internationalism and a renewed determination to combat injustice in all its forms.
Yours in solidarity,
iara lee and the whole team
