Cultures of Resistance Awardee — Brazil
Regis Adriano is the author of the book “Skate no Caminho das Pedras,” which details his journey from homelessness and drug addiction to sobriety and rediscovering his passion for skateboarding. Starting as a teenager, he experienced life on the streets, grappling with addiction and food insecurity. After 25 years of struggling with addiction, Regis managed to turn his life around with the support of friends, family, and the skateboarding community. After two years of sobriety, he felt compelled to share his story through writing, aiming to shed light on the realities of drug abuse and offer hope to others facing similar challenges.
Regis received a Cultures of Resistance Award (CoR Award) in 2024. He used the award to publish and distribute more copies of “Skate no Caminho das Pedras.”
