Cultures of Resistance Awardee — Palestine
Gaza Sunbirds is a pro-paracycling project in Gaza that is inspired and run by Alaa al Dali. Alaa is a cycling champion whose leg was shot to pieces by an Israeli sniper in 2018. Now he’s making a comeback as a para-cyclist. He founded Gaza Sunbirds to help other para-cyclists train in Palestine.
Gaza Sunbirds received a Cultures of Resistance Award (CoR Award) in 2023 and will use the award to help cover basic training costs.
