Cultures of Resistance Awardee — Burkina Faso
Le Centre Thomas Sankara pour la liberation et l’unite africaine (also known as Burkinabooks) is a Pan-African library and center for political education in Cissin, Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso. They are a lending library that carries books on African and African diasporic history, political economy in the Global South, women’s liberation in Africa, and other related subjects. They also run an afterschool program called Afrika Ye Karembisi (Students of One United Africa), a children’s theater program, as well as regular film screenings, debates, and other community events.  
Le Centre Thomas Sankara received a Cultures of Resistance Award (CoR Award) in 2022 and will be using the award to purchase a printer, additional books for the library and to complete a mural outside the building.
