The Bishkek School of Contemporary Art in Kyrgyzstan was founded by Mermet Borubaeva and Oksana Kapishnikova. The school encourages a multifaceted art practice that engages in political and economic issues such as food production and conservation, labor, migration, and gender emancipation. Every year they host TRASH, an environmental festival which uses art to highlight pollution problems.
