Cultures of Resistance Awardee — Venezuela

Uniendo Voluntades is an autonomous movement driven by the passion and dedication of youth and women in San Blas, Venezuela. Their journey began with a simple yet powerful act — cleaning up their neighborhood one piece of garbage at a time. By recruiting talented artists to paint vibrant murals in revitalized spaces, Uniendo Voluntades created a visual testament to their collective commitment to take back public spaces as productive areas for the community.

Now, many of the spaces that Uniendo Voluntades has cleaned are spaces for community engagement that host music and artistic events, as well as sites of mutual aid, such as soup kitchens and daycare centers. 

Uniendo Voluntades received a Cultures of Resistance Award (CoR Award) in 2023.
