Martha Norales

Cultures of Resistance Awardee — Honduras
Martha Alicia Norales is originally from the community of Cocalito, Iriona, Colon in Honduras. She is a leader in her community and is the facilitator of Savings Clubs in her town. Savings Clubs serve as a collective resource pool and are supplemented by donations. From home improvements to access to healthcare to securing education for children, the impact on local families has been profound. Following the success of Martha’s Savings Clubs, neighboring communities have formed their own Saving Clubs to help manage and collect resources for those in the most need.
Martha received a Cultures of Resistance Award (CoR Award) in 2023.
