Cultures of Resistance Awardee — Pakistan

Luke Rehmat is a member of the Kalasha tribe, which is an endangered Indigenous community living in the wilderness of the Hindu Kush Mountains near Pakistan’s border with Afghanistan. Rehmat is a social entrepreneur and the founder of both Kalash People’s Development Network, an organization that provides medical aid and relief efforts, and Ishpata News Network, a website that provides local news. 

Rehmat received a Cultures of Resistance Award (CoR Award) in 2021. Rehmat used his award to cover equipment costs for the production of “Dagiani,” a Kalasha historical short film.
