Karbi Youth Festival

Cultures of Resistance Awardee — India
Founded in 1974, the Karbi Youth Festival (KYF) celebrates the rich customs of the Karbi community, a minority indigenous group in Assam, India. At the festival, traditional dance forms like Chomangkan and Seng Kephang take center stage, accompanied by folk singing. KYF draws on diverse local and international Karbi talent in a week-long series of performances that offers a platform for aspiring young talents alongside more established performers. Beyond these live events, KYF also provides a vibrant atmosphere with cultural exhibitions, vendor stalls, and local cuisine, uniting thousands of visitors every year.
Karbi Youth Fesetival received a Cultures of Resistance Award (CoR Award) in 2023.
