APOINME

Cultures of Resistance Awardee — Brazil
APOINME, established in May 1990, is a non-profit organization in Brazil that serves a population of more than 200,000 Indigenous people. APOINME operates across communities in the East and Northeast of Brazil. The organization is structured around four central pillars: the fight for climate justice, political and technical training of grassroots activists, the autonomy of Indigenous peoples, and the defense of the Indigenous rights.
APOINME received a Cultures of Resistance Award (CoR Award) in 2024. They used the award to support a photography exhibition highlighting 30 years of human rights defense.
